POP Vintage things for kids. How it all started…

POP started in the summer of 2018, when we became aware of a huge quantity of children’s clothing which had left unsold in a storage warehouse, untouched for over 40 years. This genuine, pristine brand-new clothing was too good to be missed.

Most of the clothing has been manufactured in Hong Kong between 1969 and 1972 under the Empire clothing label and marketed at the time as “Cuckoo”.

After taking delivery of over 20,000 units, and the excited frenzy of discovery that followed finally calmed, we opened a small temporary pop-up shop on the trendy Humber Street in Hull, City of Culture 2017. POP was born.

“Brand-new”, genuine vintage

Trying to get our heads around saying “brand-new”, genuine vintage took some getting used to, but that’s exactly what it is. We were very keen to share with the nation and beyond these absolutely unique and beautiful clothing items.

It is very rare opportunity to own such well-made and timeless children’s clothing, but that’s exactly what we offer – the chance for you to buy a brand-new part of history! Sadly, due to our commitment to only selling genuine vintage clothing for children, unless we discover some more (which we’d love to!) when it’s gone it’s gone.

All profits go to Dove House Hospice

All the profits from the sale of these items goes directly to supporting Dove House Hospice in Hull. Dove House is an amazing cause which provides specialist care to adults living with terminal illness; the charity has a vibrant retail team with over 36 shops including one vintage shop, No 87. This interest in all things vintage, fashion retail and, of course, raising funds for families in need is what led us to discover POP… we’re wondering what we may find next.
